Steps for Tub Refinishing
- Clean tub with razor blade or sand paper or combination of both.
- Remove caulking with scrapper and razor blade.
- Apply etch with paint brush and scrub in with abrasive tub scrubber for at least 5-10 minutes.
- Wash down etch and sand down the tub with 80 grit wet sand paper.
- Rinse down tub with water and sponge again.
- Vacuum water out from the caulking line and drainage area.
- Use Lacquer thinner to thoroughly rinse the tub and let it dry.
- Secure shower head and faucet with a plastic bag or gloves to avoid any leaking of water that caninterfere/damage with the process.
- Mask tub and room accordingly.
- Use tact cloth to get rid of any debris on the tub.
- Place ventilation system on the floor to reduce fumes and avoid any debris or dust falling on the tub.
- Tact is again for final wipe to pick up any dust left on the bottom of the tub.
- Using your mis primer, spray 2 good coats covering the entire tub.
- Let it stands in between coats then use mixed acrylic polyurethane to spray as a top coat.
- Spray 3-4 coats on the tub leaving no drip or run.
- Remove masking paper leaving no mess in the facility.
- Caulk around the tub.
